Conference Theme - About PCC

Aloha Members and Friends of the Pacific Circle Consortium,

As a founding member of the PCC, the Curriculum Research & Development Group (CRDG) of the University of Hawaii College of Education is proud to invite you to participate in the examination of Education in a Pacific Context: Education Outcomes for the Twenty-first Century.

We have commissioned six prominent scholars to write papers that explore this conference theme. The papers are posted on this Web site, and we invite you to read them all and be prepared to participate in the rich discussions that will be the focus of this year’s PCC conference. Each of the three days of the conference will be focused on one of the three big questions and related issues that help explicate the overall theme. The two scholars who have written to that day’s aspect of the theme will summarize their key points and then engage participants in discussion. To facilitate that format, we invite you to write papers that are related to the theme and comment on the commissioned papers. By doing so, we hope to stimulate an exciting discussion during the conference and produce a related set of papers in the PCC peer-reviewed journal Pacific-Asian Education. Further, we hope this conference will stimulate new projects in education among our PCC members. We look forward to collaborating with you all to produce a deep, thoughtful work that can guide our endeavors for the next decade.

Sincerely,

Donald B. Young
